_______
1)Creating a Magician
Being a Magician, you only need 2 main stats: Int and Luk. Str and Dex is
of
no use to mages. Int will determine your magical attack, accuracy and
magical defense. Luk on the other hand increases your availability and
decreases exp loss when you die. To obtain the best possible mage, you must
roll the dice during the start of your character. Try getting a 4 for both
Str
and Dex. Remember, getting a 4 for both the stats are random. You might
take a total of 2 hours or 2 minutes to get the wanted stats. However, if
you
are an impatient person and can't stand waiting, you can go for a 5, 4 or a
5,
5 in Str and Dex.
________________________________________________________________________________
2) Starting your journey
As beginner, your attack will be very low because of your low Str and Dex.
Since you want to become a mage, you have to sacrifice leveling fast during
your starting levels which are 1-8.Your damage should do a mere 1-3 only.
DON'T ADD ANY AP TO STR OR DEX! Although it will be very
tempting to increase your attack, it will be useless to mages since mage's
attack rely fully on Int. And also keep in mind, do NOT add any AP into
your hp or mp. You'll be wasting your AP as you'll get free hp and mp after
every level up.
As soon as you level up, add all your AP into your Int. Keep an eye on your
Luk and Level. As soon as your Level reaches 3 points under your Luk, its
time to increase your Luk. After you level up, add 4 points into Int and 1
into Luk. Keep this process until the time you stop playing Maple Story.
Doing this, you'll be able to wear all your equipments as soon as you reach
the required level.
During the time of becoming a magician, keep killing green snails and blue
snails. Green snails ( 8 hp ) give 3 exp while blue snails( 15 hp ) give 4
exp.
Do not hit red snails as they are actually a waste of time, in my opinion.
Green snails are more worth of your time. You may also do some quests.
There are new quests around Maple Island. You may do all of them but I do
not recommend you to do Mai's Training 2 and Bigg's Collection of Items. If
you do this quest you'll have to kill orange mushrooms which are the
hardest
monsters to kill on Maple Island. Unless you are patient, avoid doing this
quest.
Finally you are level 8! As soon as you reach this level your stats should
look like this:
Str = 5/4
Dex = 5/4
Int = ? ( Depends on the amount of Int you get during your dice rolling )
Luk = 11 ( Remember, your Luk must follow this formula - *Your Level +
3*
Now that you are level 8, go to South Perry. Walk all the way to your
right>>.Your should meet Shanks at the end of the map. By now you should
have 150 mesos. Take the ship to Victoria Island and say goodbye to Maple
Island since you won't be seeing it again ( unless you make a new character
^^" ).When you reach Victoria Island, you will be in a town called Lith
Harbour. You should be on a ship. Walk away from the ship and find a guy
in a booth which should near the ship. Talk to him and you will be given
two
options. One is for him to explain about other towns while the other will
take
you to another town. Choose to go to another town and then pick Ellinia
town.

3) Magician's Skills
Lets take a look at your new skills ( ML : Master Level , R : Requirements )
=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=
*Improving Max MP Recovery* -Passive- ( ML: 16 ):
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Increasing this Skill will increase the Mp you recover every 10 seconds.
Base Mp recovery for all classes are 3.But thanks to this Skill you have,
you
will get extra Mp recovery. The formula is Skill level * ( Character level
/
10 ) + 3.
Note : This skill is a MUST for all mages. Mp is needed for all your spells
which are active. Max this Skill as soon as possible or you will have to
use
ALOT of blue potions or wait for ages for your Mp to recover.
=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_
=_=_=_=
*Improving Max MP Increase* -Passive-( ML : 10, R : Improving Max MP
Recovery 5 ):
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Increases the Max Mp you gain when you level up or when you add AP into
your Mp. For every point you put into this skill, you get an additional two
Mp for every level up and an additional 1 Mp when you put AP into your
Mp.
Note : This Skill is very useful for mages. Having high Mp regeneration
should always be followed by more Mp. Furthermore, Magic Guard works
perfectly with this skill. Although two additional Mp when level up per
point
into this skill might seem nothing, at max level of 10, every level up
gives
you 20 more mp and 10 levels adds up to a total of 200 extra mp. Its
important that you max this skill as soon as possible.
Level 1 : 2 more Mp on level up and 1 more Mp on using AP on Mp
Level 10 : 20 more Mp per level up and 10 more Mp on using AP on Mp
=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=
*Magic Guard* ( ML : 20 ):
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Mp used : 6 ( Level 1-10 )
12 ( Level 11-20 )
A partial damage to Hp will be transferred to Mp. For every point you add
into this Skill, you get additional 4 % damage absorbed by Mp and duration
of 30 seconds more.
Note: I have used this Skill and it has saved me COUNTLESS TIMES! At
master level, 80 % of damage goes into Mp and it will save you in
dangerous situations. I once saw Crimson Balrog on my way back from
Ossyria and it hit me with a total of 2134 damage! =.=.My Hp was only
around 800+.Luckily I had my Magic Guard on. If not I'll be paying again to
go back to Victoria. The bad effect of this skill is that it drains your Mp
fast
when you take damage so it should only be used against strong monsters that
will kill you in 5 or less hits.
Level 1 : 4% damage to Mp, lasts for 30 seconds, 6 Mp used
Level 20 : 80% damage to Mp, last for 600 seconds, 12 Mp used
=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=
*Magic Armor*( ML : 20, R : Magic Guard 3 ):
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Mp used : 8 ( Level 1-10 )
Mp used : 16 ( Level 11-20 )
Increases weapon defense by 2 and last 20 seconds more for each additional
point into this skill.
Note : Quite useful for mages during early levels but not very efficient
later.
Since there are better Skills with a higher priority, you shouldn't bother
about this skill at all. This is because the additional 40 weapon defense
isn't
going to reduce a lot of damage taken from high level monsters and since
you're a mage, you should not be taking damage as much during higher
levels.
Level 1 : + 2 weapon defense, last for 20 seconds, 8 mp used
Level 20 : + 40 weapon defense, last for 400 seconds, 16 Mp used
=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=
*Energy Bolt*( ML : 20 ):
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Mp used : 6 ( Level 1-10)
Mp used : 12 ( Level 11-20 )
Base damage of 17 at level 1 and 15% mastery. Additional 2 base damage
every additional point you put into this Skill. Additional 5% mastery for
every 2 levels.
Note : A basic magic Skill for mages. It is not needed to put more than 1
point into this since Magic Claw will prove to be a better skill. Energy
bolt
has a lower cool-down rate so that monsters that you hit can recover easily
from their knock-back and can advance towards you. Secondly, this Skill
can be blocked by obstacles. This will put your mage into a risk since a
mage should make use of the terrain and obstacles to avoid damage. Lastly,
the basic damage for this Skill reaches a maximum of 55 only. When you
change to your second job, you will obtain much better attack spells than
this.
Level 1 : base damage 17, 6 Mp used, 15% mastery
Level 20 : base damage 55, 12 Mp used, 60% mastery
=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=
*Magic Claw*( ML : 20, R : Energy Bolt 1 ):
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Mp used : 10 ( Level 1-10 )
Mp used : 20 ( Level 11-20 )
Attacks twice with base damage of 6 at level 1 and 15% mastery. Additional
1 base damage from level 2-5. Changes to additional 2 base damage from
level 6-20.
Note : This will be your main Skill from level 18 till onwards until you
get
your Second Job Skills. Can be considered as the best spell available to
mages before your Second Job Advancement. However, during lower levels
of Magic Claw, its damage is really low.
Level 1: Base damage 6, 10 MP used, 15% mastery
Level 2: Base damage 7, 10 MP used, 15% mastery
Level 3: Base damage 8, 10 MP used, 20% mastery
Level 4: Base damage 9, 10 MP used, 20% mastery
Level 5: Base damage 10, 10 MP used, 25% mastery
Level 6: Base damage 12, 10 MP used, 25% mastery
Level 7: Base damage 14, 10 MP used, 30% mastery
Level 8: Base damage 16, 10 MP used, 30% mastery
Level 9: Base damage 18, 10 MP used, 35% mastery
Level 10: Base damage 20, 10 MP used, 35% mastery
Level 11: Base damage 22, 20 MP used, 40% mastery
Level 12: Base damage 24, 20 MP used, 40% mastery

Recommended Training for this build
Level 8-10 : With low Int and only having 1 point in Energy Bolt, you
should kill Snails. Very boring and pathetic but you have no choice unless
you have someone that is willing to leech you.
Level 10-16 : When you slowly level up to level 10, you can upgrade to
better weapons and your higher Int will enable you to attack Slimes using
Energy Bolt with 1-3 hit KO. From level 15 onwards, your Magic Claw will
kill Slimes in 1 hit KO.
Level 17-21 : Kill Orange Mushrooms at Henesys Hunting Ground 1. It
might get a little over crowded but it抯 the best place during these levels.
Level 21-30 : Start killing Crows With 20 points in Magic Claw, you can kill
them with
a 1-2 hit KO. You may kill Wild Boars at level 27+ but be careful of pot
usage. There are alternatives such as pigs, mushrooms and dark axe stumps but
it's your
choice. And of course, there is always Kerning Party Quest ( PQ ).If you go
to Kerning and change your channel to Ch 1, you抣l see tons of people
shouting out ?I WAN PQ?or 揕evel ?? *job* lookin for pq? Are you one
of these people?

5 ) Second Job Advancement
To make your Second Job Advancement, you need to be at level 30 and have used up
all your Skill Points you have gained until level 30. Go to Ellinia and talk to
Hines again. He will talk about how much stronger you look. He will then ask you
whether you want to become even stronger. All you have to do is to just pass a
simple test. He will give you a letter for the Second Job Instructor. The Job
Instructor can be found 3 maps North-West of Ellinia, at the top. You can reach
him by going into the nearest tree hole to the ground when you reach the map.
Then jump your way up to the top. On your way, you will meet a NPC called Ronnie.
Remember his position, you will need to come back to him if you want to complete
the Jack Swetty抯 Quest. Give the letter to the Instructor and you will be
warped inside a tree. Fight the Curse Eye and Horny Mushroom inside. 2 Magic
Claw should be able to kill each monster. Collect 30 dark marbles which they
will drop. As soon as you got 30 marbles talk to the instructor again. He will
take away your marbles and give you the Proof Of Hero. Take this back to Hines
and he will give you 3 choices which are : Fire / Poison Wizard, Ice / Lightning
Wizard and Cleric. Since you抮e reading this guide, choose Ice / Lightning
Wizard. You will receive a new set of skills, more Mp and extra slots in your
ETC inventory.
Description of Ice / Lightning Wizards
Ice / Lightning wizards have the elements ice and lightning. Ice has the
advantage of freezing enemies thus stopping them in their tracks. Lightning , on
the other hand, can mass attack up to 6 monsters at once. When you make your Job
Advancement, it is best that you choose to master either Ice or Lightning first.
If you like killing fire element monsters and earning more mesos, choose Ice. If
you prefer mass killing weaklings, choose Lightning.
Pros and Cons of Ice / Lightning Wizards
Pros:
1.Can freeze monsters in their tracks.
2.Has among one of the best AOE skill during second job.
3.Earn a lot of money starting from level 45 onwards.
4. Powerful mob control skills.
Cons:
1.The thunder bolt skill uses a lot of Mp and this will affect your money income.
2.Loses out to other jobs in damage during third job.
3.Does not do as much damage as the Fire Arrow skill with our Cold Beam
6 ) Ice / Lightning Wizard Skills

*MP Eater* -Passive-(ML: 20 )
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
At level 1, this skill has a 11% chance of stealing 21% of the enemy抯 Mp.
For every point you put into this skill, the chance of activating increase
by
1% more and the Mp stolen increases by 1% more.
Note : At the starting of this Skill, 11% chance and 21% of Mp absorbed is
low. But think for a while, you should be absorbing about 7 Mp for every
activation on a Horny Mushroom. Since you will need at least 7 thousand
monsters to raise one level, you should have stolen a lot of Mp. Try
imagining it when it was maxed.
Level 1: 11% chance of stealing 21% of enemy's Mp
Level 20: 30% chance of stealing 40% of enemy's Mp

*Meditation* ( ML : 20, R : MP Eater 3 )
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Mp used: 10 Mp ( Level 1-10 )
20 Mp ( Level 11-20 )
At level 1, it increases your magic attack by 1 and lasts for 10 seconds.
For
every additional level, Meditation adds 1 more to magic attack and last for
extra 10 seconds. It can also affect your party members around you/
Note : Using this Skill increases your damage and accuracy. Thus it allows
you to kill monsters faster and with lesser Mp used.
Level 1: + 1 magic attack, last for 10 seconds, 10 Mp
Level 20: +20 magic attack, last for 200 seconds, 20 Mp

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Mp used: 60 Mp ( Level 1 )
-3 more Mp ( Level 2-10 )
-2 more Mp, + 2 distance ( level 11-20 )
Allows you to warp to a short distance away in a specific direction. You
have to use the direction arrows to choose the direction you want to warp.
Starts with a base distance of 130, end with a base distance of 140.
Note : Very useful for lightning wizards as you can teleport right into the
middle of a mob without having to get hit by jumping in and taking process.
It抯 advised that you put one skill point into this Skill as soon as
possible and
max it out later.

*Slow* ( ML : 20 )

Mp used: 8 Mp ( Level 1-10 )
16 Mp ( Level 11-20 )
Reduces the movement speed of a maximum of 6 monsters and last for only
2 seconds at level 1. For every additional point you put into this Skill,
the
speed reduces by 2 and last for an extra 2 seconds.
Note : Not a really useful Skill. Works best only on long stretches of
terrain
where you can do the hit and run technique. Don抰 add points into this
Skill
if you can avoid it.
Level 1: -2 Enemy Movement, 2 seconds duration, 8 Mp
Level 20: -40 Enemy Movement, 40 seconds duration, 16 Mp
=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=
*Cold Beam* ( ML : 30 )
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Mp used: 12 Mp ( Level 1-15 )
24 Mp ( Level 16-30 )
This Skill creates icicles which will damage enemies and freezes them if
they are not freeze resistant. Monsters of ice element and bosses cannot
freeze. At level 1, the base damage is 13, 1 second freeze and 15% mastery.
For every 1 level, the base damage increases by 3. For every 3 levels,
mastery increases by 5%. Deals 150% more damage to fire based monsters.
Note : This is the best Skill for killing high level monsters, in my
opinion. It
works great with monsters that do distance damage such as Lupins, Undead
Lupins, Umti, Tauromancis and Taurospear and many more. Cold Beam can
freeze these monsters thus stop them from doing damage. This Skill can kill
fire boars in 1 hit KO at master level and gives you the advantage of
hunting
Red Drakes efficiently.
Level 1: 13 Base Damage, 1 second freeze, 12 Mp, 15% mastery
Level 30: 100 Base Damage, 2 second freeze, 24 Mp, 60% mastery
=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=
*Thunder Bolt* ( ML : 30 )
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Mp used: 20 Mp ( Level 1-15 )
40 Mp ( Level 16-30 )
Thunder Bolt can hit up to a maximum of 6 target around you and deals
150% more damage to water elemental monsters. Base damage is 2 at level
1 and increases by 2 for every additional level you put into this skill.
Mastery level increases by 5% at every 3 level.
Note : At a base damage of 60, you can easily kill monsters like Octopus,
Green Mushroom and Horny Mushroom with 1 hit. You can choose a
suitable place where these monsters spawn a lot and fry them to your
heart抯
joy. Clangs and Lorangs are weak to lightning and you can start hunting
them down for dinner when your level is around 50+. The damage of this
Skill starts low though and takes some time to build up.
Level 1: 2 Base Damage, 20 Mp, 15% mastery
Level 30: 60 Base Damage, 40 Mp, 60% mastery

energy bolt since it increases your weak-monster killer a little.
**If you observed, level 15 uses 12 MP per Ice Beam when level 16
DOUBLES the MP used per Ice Beam. The measly amount of damage gained
is hardly worth the points. That's is why save the SP for a few lvls and
then add it to the skill. For example :
lvl 35 : you have lvl 15 ice beam.
Lvl 36 : you have lvl 15 ice beam but 3 points saved
Lvl 37 : you have lvl 15 ice beam but 6 points saved.
Lvl 38 : you have lvl 24 ice beam which allows you to 1 hit KO fire
boars with a 50-60% chance rate.
It is better to do that way. In conclusion, you'd save a lot more pots.
================================================================================
Recommended Training For This Build
Level 30-34 : Kill Crows in Zipangu since your Skill isn抰 up to standard yet
for killing high level monsters.
Level 35-40 : Start killing fire boar if you want since you will need only 2 ice
beam to kill it, although u might need an extra magic claw every now and then.
Crows are still good.
Level 41-48 : Go to Ossyria and kill the small kitties which are jr. Lioner and
jr. Cellion. You should be able to one-hit ko it. These small things should be
an excellent place to level up from level 41 to 46.When you reach 46 though, you
might feel a slight change in your leveling speed. But its nothing too drastic.
Level 49-52 : Head back to Victoria and kill Stone Golems. Now is the time for
you to find places where you can one-hit ko or two-hit ko. But I recommend you
to kill either Stone Golems or Copper Drake as both these monsters give good exp
although you need 3-4 hits.
Level 53-58 : Time to go back to Ossyria. Now its time to meet the bigger
versions of the small kitties, Cellions and Lioners. Both these monsters have
range attacks so you got to be careful. You should need 2 hits to Ko these
cats.Or you can kill red drakes with about 4 hits to KO if your feeling lucky.
Red Slimes at Showa would make decent experience too.
59-65 : Now you got to go back to kill RED DRAKES! These are the monsters that
most people your level want to kill. I can抰 blame them because red drakes drop
steely which can be sold for 8 million mesos. You can also try out dark stone
golems if red drakes get overcrowded since you should be killing it at 3-4 hits
KO. The cats and Red Slime are still a fast experience source. * Thanks to
blizardmage for this information.* And try out Mix Golems in Golem Temple 5 too.
66-70 : Killing Subordinate D at Parking Lot with Lightning will earn you loads
of experience. Partying with Holy Symbol in Mix Stone Golems are much better
experience though. This has been tested by KageyamaReji. Coolie Zombies and the
big cats provide decent experience also.

Level 68: MP Eater ( 3 )
Level 69: MP Eater ( 3 )
Level 70: MP Eater ( 2 ), Energy Bolt ( 1 )*
*You may choose to put this last point into any Skill as you wish. I recommend
energy bolt since it increases your weak-monster killer a little.
**If you observed, level 15 uses 20 MP per Lightning when level 16
DOUBLES the MP used per Lightning. The measly amount of damage gained
is hardly worth the points. That's is why save the SP for a few lvls and
then add it to the skill. For example :
lvl 35 : you have lvl 15 Lightning.
Lvl 36 : you have lvl 15 Lightning but 3 points saved
Lvl 37 : you have lvl 15 Lightning but 6 points saved.
Lvl 38 : you have lvl 24 Lightning which allows you to 2 hit KO lorangs with a
50-60% chance rate.
It is better to do that way. In conclusion, you'd save a lot more pots.

Recommended Training For This Build
Level 30-34 : Kill Crows since your Skill isn抰 up to standard yet for killing
high level monsters
Level 35-40 : Your Lightning still isn抰 quite powerful yet. You should try
killing
Crows with it.
Level 41-50 : Start killing Lorangs in Lorang*2 if you want to level faster but
beware of pot usage. You may mass kill Crows, but it might get boring after
staying there so long.
Level 51-60 : You can now start frying Lorangs in Lorang*3 or you can start on
Clangs but you have to be careful of pots usage.
Level 61-?? : Read the recommended places for those that maxed ice first. Or you
can go fry some Clangs in Hot Sand for fast experience.

Recommended Training for This Build
Ice first
Level 30 : PQ, PQ and more PQ. Crows are good.
Level 31-34 : Crows.
Level 35-39 : Fire boars / Crows
Level 40-45 : Jr Cellions / Lioners. Fire boars are still good until level 44.
Then kitties will overtake permanently.
Level 45-50 : Copper Drakes or Stone Gollems. Your choice.
Level 51-70 : Cellions / Lioners or Red Drakes or Subordinate D. Switch in
between these three to find which suit you.
Lightning first
Level 30 : PQ, PQ and more PQ. Crows are good
Level 31-34 : Crows
Level 35-37 : Crows or Stirges
Level 38-40 : Evil eye or any high spawn places which are easy to kill
Level 40-50 : Evil eye till level 46 then lorangs all the way
Level 51-58 : Lorangs or try out Ice leveling places after maxing Ice.
Level 59-70 : Clangs or Ice Leveling places.
NOTE : The places that are listed down here are good for me. Your equipments and
stats WILL affect the efficiency of leveling. In order to kill well in these
places during the recommended levels, I advise you to get at least average
wands/staff which are near your level and not 10 levels behind. For example,
you抮e a level 45 wizard using a level 33 wand which is wizard wand. Your damage
WILL be affected. It will do you a lot of good using equipments close to your
level.
* Many have misunderstood me in my note. True, getting a higher level wand is
better. BUT only for NORMAL wizards. Low luck wizards need not get higher level
wands due to their extra INT.
