1.1- Introduction:
Sup y'all, there are some stuff I'd like to go over before we start the
interesting part of the guide.
now I hope you understand the fact that this is not a beginners guide, this
is a guide for people who has opened other
characters and knows a bit about the game. therefor I will not explain stuff
like how to play, I will show you the way
of becoming the best magician I can think of. now there is one more thing I
would like to share with you, the fact that
my character has not reached level 70 and im about level 50-60 now but I can
help as much as I can and as much as
you'll give me.
So I hope you'll have fun with this guide and I hope it will help you as
much as you can.
________________________________________________________________________
1.2- Why choose Magician?
I'll tell you why!
The magician is most difficult character in this game therefor it is the
best character in the game(at least I think so).
dont mistake and think it is an easy character and unless you have other
characters to "donate" some money for this
character, its going to be a long way...
BUT not to worry you have me. ^_^
________________________________________________________________________
1.3- The key for a good Magician.
The key for a good mage is patience, now you may have heard this over before
but the key for a magician is simply having
a lot of lot of patience. you'll need to sit down on your ass and train for
hours and hours because the mage is a tough
character. now look you may be thinking "dam what a bummer I tought mage was
fun" dont mistake my words!@!@#$
mage is a very fun character but its also a character that can be really
lame and boring sometimes.
for example look at me, in level 30 my Claws did 300 each to a fire boar...
so you see the mage is not a bad character its just a character that needs
to be taken care off(like a pet).
_________________________________________________________________________
2.1- Getting started:
Before you start playing I want you to go to the window of creating a new
char(even if you already started one)
now in this window I want you to choose EXACTLY the way I tell you to
do(even if it takes an hour to get the right combo)
STR- 4
DEX- 4
INT- X
LUK- X (not more then 11)
Now I'll explain as for the STR and DEX it is obvious a mage cant fire a bow
nor hit with a sword(who ain't a beginner sword)
but for the INT and LUK im gonna ask you to just leave them like this since
you get in the start a right amount of skill
points that get distributed to each and every one on a random basis that
means that if u get 4,4 in STR and DEX all the
other skill points will go to INT and LUK as for the LUK I want you to have
not more then 11 in it because thats all you need
for now.
________________________________________________________________________
2.2- Skill point distribution:
the SP(skill point) in a mage is a simply method acctually.
in level 8 you need 20 INT in order of becoming a magician(altought you'll
something like 41-43 depending on your dicing in
the new character window) now I will recommand you to have something like
11-12 LUK in level 8 in order to wear your clothes.
I have a very simply method for the SP distribution, every avatar midway
level(that means the levels between the avatar
changings) for example between level 20-25 you simply pump the INT all the
way but when you buy the new clothes you'll notice
you need more LUK every 3-5 levels, so in the level up to level 25 you give
the amount of LUK necesery to wear the clothes
OR you can go in another method which I use and thats the method of
LVL+3 to LUK
that means that when you level up each level u give 4 to INT and 1 to LUK in
order of keeping you LUK on a +3 basis.
_________________________________________________________________________
2.3- Training areas(1-8)
Well in this I can only advice you and not tell you what to do.
Since its just a matter of patience VS. other kind of patience...
let me explain, if you stay on maple island you can kill monsters and level
up untill level 8 and then go to Victoria Island
and become a mage OR you can go right ahead to Victoria Island and train on
the training grounds of henesys only there
In my opinion you level up faster but if its crouded you get KSed(kill
stealed) and that can siriously pump up your nervs.
So my advice is if you play on a crowded server(SCANIA, BERA etc.) dont go
to Victoria Island untill level 8
but if you play on a slow server(Windia, Khia.. etc.) you can go to the
training grounds of Henesys right away.

3.1- Skill and ability points distribution:
SP- I would advice you to stay on the same track as you were
before(LVL+3LUK).
AP- Any normal and boring guide will have an explanation about every Ability
but like I said before im not making a guide
for noobs so if you want I'll give you a link to the AP of a magician:
http://www.MapleStory-Account.com
There are two seperated ways to distribute your AP I'll show you both:
the inpatient way: the patient way:
level AP level AP
8 1- Energy bolt 8 1- Energy
bolt
9 3- MP recovery 9 3- MP
recovery
10 3- MP recovery 10 3- MP
recovery
11 2- MP recovery, 1- Magic claw 11 3- MP
recovery
12 3- Magic claw 12 3- MP
recovery
13 3- Magic claw 13 3- MP
recovery
14 3- Magic claw 14 1- MP
recovery, 2- Magic claw
15 2- Magic claw, 1- Magic guard 15 3- Magic
guard
16 2- Magic claw, 1- Magic guard 16 2- Magic
claw, 1- Magic armor
17 2- Magic claw, 1- Magic guard 17 3- Magic
armor
18 3- Magic claw 18 3- Magic
armor
19 2- Magic Armor, 1- Magic claw 19 3- Magic
armor
20 3- MP recovery 20 3- Magic claw
21 3- MP recovery 21 3- Magic claw
22 2- MP recovery, 1- Magic armor 22 3- Magic claw
23 2- Magic armor, 1- Max MP increase 23 3- Magic claw
24 2- Magic armor, 1- Max MP increase 24 3- Magic claw
25 3- Max MP increase 25 1- Magic
claw, 2- Magic armor
26 3- Max MP increase 26 3- Magic
armor
27 2- Max MP increase, 1- Magic armor 27 3- Magic
armor
28 3- Magic armor 28 2- Magic
armo, 1- Max MP increase
29 3- Magic armor 29 3- Max MP
increase
30 3- Magic armor 30 3- Max MP
increase
If you chose the inpatient way your Ability table should look like this:
MP recovery- 16(max)
Max MP increase- 10(max)
Magic guard- 3
Magic armor- 16
Energy bolt- 1
Magic claw- 20(max)
If you chose the patient way your Ability table should look like this:
MP recovery- 16(max)
Max MP increase- 7
Magic guard- 3
Magic armor- 20(max)
Energy bolt- 1
Magic claw- 20(max)
Now before you jump to conclusions let me say why is this Ability table
better then the tables you see in other guides.
usually in a regular guide they would say that you need to max magic guard
and Max MP increase but I think that magic armor
is a better skill since its a skill that gives u 40~ defence at a max level
and that is a very helpfull skill
for a lower lvled mage since you fight against monsters that deal a low
damage(I'll speak about that later) so as the damage
is lower you waste less money on potions. back to the magic guard ability, I
think this ability is a waste since it depends
on the MP that will be wasted instead of the the HP, and please remember
that HP potions cost less then MP therefor that
skill is not a good skill. and about the Max MP increase now this skill is a
good one but its not that important since a mage
never suffers from lack of mana for a spell, by that I mean that its simply
better to buy potions rather then to max a skill
and waste ability points.
_________________________________________________________________________
3.2- Training areas(8-30)
Before I'll explain to you the way you will be training:
you will face only low damage monsters, that means you wont go to monster
that can kill you in less then 5 hits.
for example in level 15-18 you will kill Orange mushrooms since they deal
15-20 damage(when you're armorless)
and you have 180-230 HP.
so here is a table I made for you to see on which creatures do I advice you
to train:
Level Creature Place
1-10 All kinds of snails Maple island, Training grounds
1
10-15 Slime, Stumps Training grounds 1, the fields
next to perion
15-20 Orange mushrooms, Pigs Training grounds 1, Pig
beach(if you dont know the location check in the web)
20-25 Party quests, Pigs Kerning City, Pig beach
25-30 Party quest, Horny mushrooms Kerning City, Ent tunnel
1(Sleepywood)
__________________________________________________________________________
3.3- Tips on easy money and merketing:
Basicly the mage doesnt need much money until he reached level 25 untill
that level all he needs is money for potions and
money for his avatars every 3-5 levels. so untill level 25 dont save any
money just waste it all on avatar and
all the rest on potions.
When you reach level 25 start thinking about your money, dont spend it all
on potions like before I would advice you to
buy a large amount of potions(100-200 depends on the potions recovery) and
refill it every now and then.
the reason which in level 25 you need to start thinking on how much money
you spend and how much money you have is because
from level 25 or in some cases level 20 you have more then one option for
you clothes/hats/shoes/earrings/gloves.
and not like before when you had only one option in the shop.
So now I'll give you some tips on getting money:
- you need to have patience when you sell something. for example if you got
a scroll from a quest or you found one what you
need to have is patience because people wont allways buy it in 5 minutes.
sometimes you need to wait 2-3 days before you
can sell a scroll or any other item you found.
- you need to know not to argue about the price. and by that I mean you need
to say the price only one time and if he tries
to take it down keep saying the price untill he will accept it or move on
to someone else. now by that I mean a resonable
price and not something too high if you see that people dont even try to
buy it make a lower price but dont argue about it
NEVER.
- try to hunt for monsters that give a good etc.(eccesory items) such as
Pigs that give leathers and ribbons that gets solled
for a high price(150 per leather 60-100 per ribbon)
- If you dont know the price of something you found there are two ways of
knowing its price. you can go to the shop and see
the price for the item or see for how much its solled for but this usually
doesnt work since there are items that are
overvalued in this game such as scrolls and ores. and another bad thing
about this way is that not all of the avatar are
solled in the store. the other way is to go to the rooms in the free
market and see the prices that people give for the
items that usually works except when the seller is crazy or just gives it
a high price.

3.4- Recommanded Avatar wearing:

20-25 Wizardy hat, doros robe, jewelery boots, morrican
25-30 Ribboned headband, wizard robe, wind shoes, mesana, old raggedy cape
Weapon- as for a weapon every 2-3 levels you can change from a staff to a
wand.
shield- I would advice you to use a stolen fence untill you find a pan lid
or something else.
___________________________________________________________________________
4.1- Skill and ability points distribution:
SP- keep it the way you did before by level 30 you're supposed to have 28-30
LUK if im not mistaken all the rest should be
in INT(should be over 110)
AP- here I can help you only if you've become a Ice/Lightning wizard.
heres a table of the distribution:
level AP
30 1- Ice beam
31 3- Ice beam
32 3- Ice beam
33 3- Ice beam
34 3- Ice beam
35 3- Ice beam
36 3- Ice beam
37 3- Ice beam
38 3- Ice beam
39 3- Ice beam
40 2- Ice beam, 1- Lightning bolt
41 3- Lightning bolt
42 3- Lightning bolt
43 3- Lightning bolt
44 3- Lightning bolt
45 3- Lightning bolt
46 3- Lightning bolt
47 3- Lightning bolt
48 3- Lightning bolt
49 3- Lightning bolt
50 2- Lightning bolt, 1- MP eater
51 3- MP eater
52 3- MP eater
53 3- MP eater
54 3- MP eater
55 3- MP eater
56 3- MP eater
57 1- MP eater, 2- Meditation
58 3- Meditation
59 3- Meditation
60 3- Meditation
61 3- Meditation
62 3- Meditation
63 3- Meditation
64 3- Teleport
65 3- Teleport
66 3- Teleport
67 3- Teleport
68 3- Teleport
69 3- Teleport
70 3- Slow
From my line of view this is the best table possible for a Ice/Lightning
wizard and now I'd like to explain more about it:
I chose to pump the Ice beam before the lightning bolt since its a better
skill for lower levels and by that I mean that it
deals more damage for less mana. after that I chose to put MP eater because
its a skill for a higher level wizard, let me
explain why do I think that way. the idea of that skill is that it takes the
monsters mana and gives it to you. but untill
a higher level such as level 50 I dont think the mage is supposed to fight a
monster that has a lot of mana therefor he
doesnt need that skill untill a higher level. now I chose to put Meditation
because its a good skill but its just like taking
a wizard potion/sap of ancient tree therefor I dont think that skill is so
important to be put before any of her former
skills. as for Teleport and Slow, in my opinion I would'nt put AP for Slow
only for teleport but since slow can be helpfull
sometimes I left some space for it in the last level.

4.2- Recommanded avatar wearing(30-70)
level Avatar
30-35 Golden pride/Green jester,Dark/Blood chaos robe,Magic
shoes,Lutia,Wizard wand

60-65 White/Black saraphis,White/Dark anakamoon,Gold runners,Manute,
Cromi
65-70 White/Black saraphis,Brown/Dark requiem, Gold runners,Manute,
Cromi
Shield- After level 33 if u have enough money go and buy a Esther shield or
a mystic shield.
after level 40 you must have an esther or a mystic shield.
Staff- as for staff after a certain level you keep using cromi so instead of
changing the cromi try to upgrade it with
scrolls.
